Dr. Lisa Chism is the Clinical Director of Oakland Macomb Center for Breast Health. Dr. Chism holds four specialty certifications which include certification as a Menopause Practitioner through The Menopause Society, certification as a Sexuality Counselor through the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists, certification in Breast Care through the Oncology Nursing Society, and certification as a Trauma-Informed Care Practitioner.
After more than 15 years caring for breast cancer survivors and patients at high risk for breast cancer, Dr. Chism established a dedicated menopause and sexual health clinic focused on caring for women with a history of breast cancer or those at elevated risk for breast cancer.
Dr. Chism has authored numerous publications related to women's healthcare, including serving as lead author of The Menopause Society's 2023 Non-Hormonal Position Statement. She is a frequent guest lecturer at universities across the country, and her textbook, The Doctor of Nursing Practice: A Guidebook for Role Development and Professional Issues, is currently in its fifth edition.
Dr. Chism is a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and was selected as Menopause Practitioner of the Year in 2011. She has served on the Board of Directors for the North American Menopause Society as well as on a federal CDC advisory committee regarding breast cancer in young women. In October 2021, she was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.
Recently, Dr. Chism published her memoir, The Adopted Nurse, and remains passionate about the care of adoptees through a healthcare professional lens.
