Dr. Lisa Chism, certified nurse practitioner, joins us as the Clinical Director of the Oakland Macomb Breast Center. Dr. Chism has over 25 years of experience as a nurse practitioner with the last several years specializing primarily in breast health. Most recently, Dr. Chism served as Clinical Director of the Women’s Wellness Clinic at Karmanos Cancer Institute where she cared for women’s comprehensive breast concerns including elevated risk for breast cancer and breast cancer survivorship.
Dr. Chism is also a Certified Menopause Practitioner through the North American Menopause Society (NAMS) and an AASECT certified sexuality counselor. During her time at Karmanos Cancer Institute, Dr. Chism also established a dedicated menopause and sexual health clinic caring for the menopausal and sexual health needs of women who have a history of breast cancer or are at elevated risk for breast cancer. Dr. Chism is a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and was selected as Menopause Practitioner of the year 2011. In addition, she received the Karmanos Cancer Institute Heroes of Breast Cancer Compassionate Caregiver Award. In 2013, Dr Chism also received a Nightingale Award in the category of Distinguished Alumni, Oakland University. She currently serves on the Board of Directors at the North American Menopause Society. Recently, Dr. Chism was appointed by the Secretary of Health and Human Services to serve on a federal advisory committee with the CDC regarding breast cancer in young women. Dr. Chism also guest lectures around the country on breast, menopause and sexual health and is an adjunct assistant professor at University of Tennessee Memphis Health science Center.
Dr. Chism is passionate about breast cancer detection and survivorship with a special interest in menopause, and sexual health. She enjoys spending time with family especially on her farm in Hillsdale, Michigan. Dr. Chism is accepting new patients at the Oakland Macomb Breast Center in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
