About Melissa Kennedy, MD
Melissa Kennedy, MD, MS, PMH-C, is an obstetrician/gynecologist and fellowship-trained perinatal mental health provider at Oakland Macomb Obstetrics & Gynecology, PC, which has locations throughout Rochester Hills, Troy, and Lenox, Michigan.
Dr. Kennedy received her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit and completed residency in obstetrics and gynecology at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak. She joined the Oakland Macomb Obstetrics & Gynecology team and practiced general OB/GYN for over a decade. She has special interests in high-risk obstetrics care and perinatal mental health. She received her certification in perinatal mental health in 2021 and left Oakland Macomb OB/GYN in 2024 to complete fellowship training in Reproductive Psychiatry at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston. She joined the obstetrics and gynecology faculty at MUSC, continuing general OB/GYN care, while she received her mental healthcare training within the department of psychiatry, specifically with the Women's Reproductive and Behavioral Health team of Reproductive Psychiatrists.
Fellowship training in reproductive psychiatry allowed Dr. Kennedy to expand her practice scope to include treatment of reproductive mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, OCD, trauma and stress-related conditions, and substance use disorders. She has a special interest in methods to prevent and reduce the impacts of trauma during the reproductive years. After fellowship graduation, she brought her expertise back to Oakland Macomb Obstetrics and Gynecology and is excited to continue to provide obstetrics and gynecology care to women, as well as care for patients at the Oakland Macomb Perinatal Mental Health office.
Dr. Kennedy is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is certified by PSI in Perinatal Mental Health and fellowship-trained in Reproductive Psychiatry. Dr. Kennedy is an Hour Detroit Top Doc, awarded in clinical care and education, and is a patient favorite. She exudes kindness and compassion in all of her relationships. She is an assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology on the clinical faculty at Oakland University's William Beaumont School of Medicine. Personally, she has enjoyed several years of volunteer work providing gynecologic care at a local clinic for uninsured patients.
Outside of the office, Dr. Kennedy enjoys spending time with family and friends.
