Oakland Macomb OBGYN Certified Nurse Midwives: Attending Natural Births for Nearly Two Decades at Troy Beaumont Hospital
Royal Oak Beaumont is opening the doors to their new birthing center this week and we’re so excited that they’ll be joining us in providing alternative birth experiences in the Beaumont system!
Oakland Macomb OBGYN has had Certified Nurse Midwives (CNM’s) offering patients a unique, personalized birth experience at Troy Beaumont for nearly 20 years! Our original midwives, LouAnne Case and Kathy Figurski were already experienced when they joined Drs. Stark and McBride here at Troy Beaumont in the late 1990’s and have been growing their thriving practice since, adding more dedicated, patient-centered practitioners along the way, with Angela Drew, Julie Hansen, Mary Martinovich, and a sixth midwife to be joining shortly!
They love what they do, giving patients the self-directed, safe and positive birth experiences they seek. The relationships they have with their patients are really special. They offer one-on-one, intimate care, from conception through the postpartum period.
During labor and delivery, patients can expect individualized personal care by these skilled and caring nurse midwives, with minimal interventions and outstanding results. The community has certainly embraced this model of care and their practice is booming! The midwives attend between 40 and 60 births every month here at Troy Beaumont.
Patients are assisted in accomplishing their labor and delivery goals with the use of jacuzzi baths and birthing balls, as well as other pain management and labor support techniques. For those patients who really want the best of both worlds, we offer our low risk, healthy patients the most relaxed, empowering births possible with our nurse midwives, while also having the fantastic Oakland Macomb doctors and all the resources of Troy Beaumont available in the event of an emergency. For select patients, we now also offer a natural birth suite, which includes a queen size bed and accommodations for the entire family to participate in the birth, along with the expectation that the mother and baby will go home within 24 hours of delivery.
We are so thankful for our amazing midwives and the unique and wonderful care they’ve provided here at Troy Beaumont for nearly two decades. If you are interested in finding out more, please check out our website or call the office for an appointment!
